A Perfect Example of American Christianity

I could not help but jump on the J.D. Hall bandwagon on this one. Videos like this are simply embarrassing to those of us who are actually in the Christian community. We see nonsense like this and realize that so many people in American culture really do not understand Christianity...not even a little. If you think that America has been thoroughly baptized in the Christian religion, you had better think again. Never before has America been so ripe for missionary work than it is today.

1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,
4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
6 For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses,
7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
2 Ti 3:1–7.

  1. In my view, Ed, what makes the American mission field so much more challenging than the foreign mission field is the inoculation of Americans to the true gospel.

Just as a weakened form of a virus makes one immune to the virus at full-strength, a weakened form of the gospel makes people immune to the true gospel.

As a result, you've got churches full of false converts who truly believe they are saved and will believe no differently, even when you show them the condition of their souls.

    It's very disheartening.

    God bless.

    1. Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for your astute comment. I cannot help but think about how Jesus praised His Father for hiding the truth from the wise and the intelligent. I cannot help but think this may be the judgment of God on a country that claimed Christ for centuries without really possessing Him. It can be very disheartening. We must continue to true God to work His plan and do our part to honor and glorify Him while we are here. God bless!
